Urbanization and industrialization has caused severe environmental problems to the air, soil, and water. Thus, restoration of the environment, conservation of natural resources, improvement of the visual environment, and protection of ecosystem are urgently needed these days.
Professional landscape architects are needed to understand and solve these environmental problems, and to make and manage a delightful, functional, and aesthetic environment. Studying landscape architecture has played a significant role in turning large-scale wetland projects, forest landscape in gardens, urban parks, and other various landscapes from daily living spaces to traditional landscape spaces.
The educational aim is to train innovative professionals to experience logical planning, design, construction, and management through the study of nature and social science theory which is necessary for landscape planning, design, construction, and management. One of the educational aims is also to improve the quality of the environment through producing harmony between the natural environment and the artificial environment.
Graduates may seek employment in the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, local governments, Korea National Housing Corporation, Korea Land Corporation, Urban Development Corporation, Korea Highway Corporation, and private enterprises of landscape planning, design, construction, and management.
