Department of Education
Education refers to the discipline focusing on the healthy development and the harmonious adjustment of the younger generation. Education is an academic field that is necessary for training pre-service and in-service teachers.
The Department of Education purports to train secondary school teachers and professionals in educational research or educational policy-making and administration. Currently, the Department of Education offers a variety of undergraduate courses in educational philosophy, educational history, educational psychology, educational sociology, lifelong education, curriculum and instruction, educational evaluation, educational administration, educational technology, counseling psychology, and school psychology.
Undergraduate students who complete all the requirements at the Department earn teacher certificates, and those who complete the requirements for lifelong educators also earn lifelong educator certificates. Most undergraduate students at the Department of Education minor in or double-major in other education areas; therefore, they also can earn a teacher certificate of the respective minor or double-major area. Many graduates are employed as secondary teachers, college professors, educational administrators, or researchers at educational research institutes, personnel development centers, community counseling centers, or companies for development of educational software. Some pursue graduate studies for the master's or doctoral degrees.
