Department of Environmental Engineering

The Department of Environmental Engineering was established in 1992. Environmental engineering deals with the knowledge and technology needed to improve human health and happiness by protecting the environment from the adverse effects of manufactured pollutants and their manufacturing actions.

As a result of GDP growth, public interest in a cleaner and more pleasant environment is becoming stronger; consequently, the demand for environmental engineers is on the rise. Degrees offered by the department are the Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Science degrees. Undergraduate students study compulsory technologies for preventing and treating the pollution of air, water, solid waste, soil, and marine life, and also for preserving the ecosystem and reducing noise and vibration. In addition, they also attend several laboratory classes designed to facilitate their knowledge acquired in class.

After students graduate, they can become public servants of the central or a local governmental organization related to environmental works; examples include operations manager for environmental facilities of manufacturing industries, environmental laboratory researcher of the government or private companies, and employee of engineering and construction companies. Students that complete the course of study for the teaching profession can also become teachers of middle and high schools.
