Department of Applied Mathematics
Applied Mathematics is the basis of all sciences in the increasingly professionalized and advanced world, and it makes people realize the importance and role of mathematics. It employs candidates in the general field of mathematics and statistics, and it links mathematics to engineering by the education of differential equations and numerical analysis. Based on these, it fosters individuals to be able to contribute to the information society.
The Department of Applied Mathematics helps students to study practical mathematics needed by society. Also, to meet varying needs created by the continuous changes of the information society of the 21st century, it develops the ability to use computer and other various forms of media using mathematics. Furthermore, it improves the ability to process quantitative and qualitative data statistically with mathematical knowledge. It also develops the ability to solve various problems rationally that are experienced in the field as improving logical thinking power based on the basic knowledge of modern mathematics.
After graduation, students take up various careers in diverse fields such as finance (banks, stock companies), computation, data processing, and statistics. Students also go on to establish technology firms, enter the civil service, become mathematics teachers, and continue studies in graduate school.
