The contemporary study of Business administration is a comprehensive and practical subject. Business administration studies the operating system of a corporation, an economic subject in the economy of capitalism on the basis of the active and future-oriented behavioral principle regarding the drastic environmental change in a society following technical innovation. In addition, the study of Business administration is a course of study to lead a management culture to unify a new world in consideration of both local regions and the world as a whole.
The study of International Trade is an area of study which has an international-oriented and practical nature. The Department of International Trade has its educational goal to adapt to a rapidly changing domestic and overseas environment, lead such a change, and thus cultivate specialized commercial experts who have the talent to enhance the status of Korea as a center in the world. Although the history of distribution and transportation is not that long, such an area is highlighted as a new field to lead the 21st century. All businesses relating to nationally competitive power are related to distribution and transportation. We encounter matters to resolve traffic congestion which occurs on a daily basis in cities as well as many industries relating to distribution and transportation such as the container quay in Yeosu, Gwangyang Bay area, free economic zone in Gwangyang Bay area, Yeosu national industrial complex, and Yulchon regional industrial complex.
The Division of Business and Commerce consists of 3 major fields of study: Corporate Management major, International Trade major, and Distribution Transportation major. It takes charge of education relating to a corporation, trade, and distribution transportation in Yeosu, the largest city in the free economic zone in Gwangyang Bay area. Many opportunities and challenges in the free economic zone including many businesses and financial institutions in Yeosu are available. Student will be equipped with profound knowledge both in theory and in practice. They will be capable of applying such knowledge into growing their problem-solving skills in the real world and contributing innovation in the society or organizations for which they work.
Due to the characteristics in the Division relating to commerce, there are diverse fields to work in society as well as the scope that the Division covers. In terms of the (1) Department of Business Administration, it is possible to find one's way to becoming a certified public accountant, licensed tax accountant, patent attorney, customs expert, and certified public labor attorney through a licensing exam. And it is possible to go to numerous academic fields and research institutes relating to commerce by attending graduate school. In addition, many graduates work in fields relating to an accounting, planning, finance, and marketing in ordinary companies including the financial industry such as a bank, Securities Company, insurance company, and investment and trust management companies. In terms of a career path for (2) the Department of International Trade, graduates obtain the licenses to become customs experts, experts in international, trade, experts in distribution management, experts in cyber-trading, experts in foreign exchange management, and experts in e-commerce management. These graduates mainly work in the field of international trade-related business in various companies, governmental entities, and financial institutions. Moreover, graduates work in diverse corporations in the region. In terms of (3) the Department of Distribution Transportation, graduates work in diverse fields due to an increased overall interest in transportation in society. In addition to governmental institutions, which were career paths, the participation of private companies to SOC (Social Overhead Capital) has been recently encouraged, and the career path in such fields is on the rise. Thus, the graduates work in a central government, local self-governing entities, various transportation-related research institutes, civil companies, and specialized technical service providers.
